Palm Vein
Palm vein authentication is a vein feature authentication technology that uses palm veins as the biometric feature. Palm vein patterns are normally captured using near-infrared light via either the reflection or the transmission methods. In the reflection method, near-infrared rays are emitted towards the palm to be identified and the reflected light is captured for authentication. Because veins are beneath human skin, it is difficult for someone else to copy or steal them, so the palm vein is more secure compared to some other biometric features.
Palm vein authentication works by comparing the pattern of veins in the palm of a person being authenticated with a pattern stored in a database. Vascular patterns are unique to each individual, according to Fujitsu research — even identical twins have different patterns. And since the vascular patterns exist inside the body, they cannot be stolen by means of photography, voice recording or fingerprints, thereby making this method of biometric authentication more secure than others.

Palm Vein Sensors
The palm vein sensors are available as pure OEM sensor for integration, as desktop sensor for connection to e.g. notebook, or also as a PC mouse in which the sensor is integrated.
All palm vein sensors have a USB connection. For the OEM sensor a hand adapter is available, which is strongly recommended for the initial user registration.
A special adapter for PC pattern, which supports user first registration, is available for the OEM sensor. Important!!! For integration of the palm vein sensors by OEMs a SDK / SDK training is required, which is also offered via BBx ID Solutions
